The Casselman family is flourishing. These are relatively peaceful and prolific times. The family has a long and well-researched genealogy and a very colourful history, dating back to its medieval Central European origins. It seems fitting in the new millennium, that we look back to strengthen our roots as we move through this historic time and into the future. Knowing our heritage and respecting it will prepare us to meet these rapidly changing times.

In 1984, the Society held its first international family reunion in Morrisburg, Ontario Canada. This reunion was a huge success, attracting nearly 2000 visitors from Canada, Germany, the United States and France, representing over 600 families. It was a landmark gathering. Casselmans, Castlemans, Casselmanns came from across North America and around the world. It was fitting that it should be hosted in Morrisburg because there is a greater density of Casselmans and Casselman relatives in eastern Ontario than anywhere else in the world. Another Casselman reunions were also hosted in Germany in 1987 and in Arizona in 1993.

On July 7 - 9, 2000, a second international family reunion was hosted in Morrisburg, Ontario . All Casselmans, Castlemans, and variants of the name, and their descendants, both maternal and paternal, and friends, were invited to meet and socialize with their relatives and friends and help to trace their ancestry.

The 2nd Sunday of July has been proclaimed Casselman Day. Each year, on this day, the Casselmans of Eastern Ontario hold a family church service and indoor picnic. There is a potluck lunch, a short business meeting, and either a guest speaker or some form of entertainment. Anyone is welcome to attend.

The genealogists are also interested in any other general information or pictures which you might have regarding the family. If you wish to register as a member, please submit your family information, and pedigree chart as provided.

The Society is compiling a computerized database. If your family genealogy is available in a computer form, we ask that you send it to us in on a diskette along with the chart so it can be entered directly into our central database.
